The Mistress Memoirs A Boscastle Affairs Novel Jillian Hunter Books
There are really three main characters in The Mistress Memoirs, surprising for a romance novel. Sometimes I really enjoyed this novel and other times I didn't due to the selfish nature of some of the characters.Georgette is a courtesan who has decided to write her memoirs. She has had a string of lovers and knows that her book will sell since all the ladies of the ton really want to know about the life of a wicked lady. Georgette has three children and their governess is the heroine of this story. Kate Walcott is more than a servant though, she is also transcribing Georgette's memoirs and she keeps everything afloat in the home. Georgette is self-absorbed and expects Kate to balance everybody's life. Kate is grateful to Georgette, who took her in after she had a terrible experience with an employer.
Sir Colin Bocastle was Georgette's lover thirteen years ago and according to Georgette, the best man she ever had between the sheets. Colin has been away for years but has returned to avenge his father's death. He is convinced Georgette's current paramour is involved with the murder.
Sir Colin and Kate meet under some dire circumstances. Georgette is practically run out of her provincial town by the locals. (Sometimes this novel almost feels medieval). Colin is enchanted with Kate and makes a play for her immediately. He does not take the time, initially to get to really know this young woman and he tends to think only of his own needs, he certainly does not consider Kate's circumstances (she is innocent and she is employed by his former lover) when he pursues her.
Kate is likable but understandably distant. She tends to place herself second and sometimes third behind her employer's needs and her young charges. She is attracted to Colin but knows his past with Georgette and she knows other secrets about their relationship too. About two thirds of the way through this novel this story becomes a better tale and it is almost solely due to the hero recognizing that he needs to stop thinking only of himself. He has spent a lifetime practically of going it alone and answering to no one for his actions. Kate is unselfish and her life of generosity and contentment opens up endless possibilities for Colin. When Colin sees this heroine in a new light this romance is a solid four star story, I just had to wait a long time for it to happen.

The Mistress Memoirs A Boscastle Affairs Novel Jillian Hunter Books Reviews
Ms. Hunter delivers as always. A romance with wiitty characters. Could not put it down. Loved it. Would recommend this book to everyone. Always look forward to reading her books.
Love this series! Can't wait to read more from this series and this author. She tells great stories.
thank you!
Great heroes, and wonderful dialogue. A great story, wonderful supporting characters, and really Interesting female characters. Another great Boscastle yarn.
I would just recommend you start with Jillian Hunter first Boscastle book and continue with her backlist. I have read each and every one of them many times. There is humor as well as romance in Jillian Hunter's books.
I have really enjoyed the Boscastle Family books. It has kept me constantly wondering how the next family member is doing and what trouble the next family member can get into.
Loved it from the beginning to the end.
iI just love any and every story of the Bocastles .....What a GREAT FAMILY !!!!
The twist and turns keep you captivated. The way the characters developed and unfold leave you dreading having to put down the book for a moment. You most likely will not see the true villain unveiled. There maybe hints, but those are misleading. Hold your breath until the end. Can not wait until the next book in the series is released. I do believe I have every Boscastle book there is and the way each person is described is different and at the same time holding some similarities deriving from the fact they are family. Mrs Hunter truly is a gifted writer who makes each book worth every penny.
