Not the best breed I've read but still quite good. Fills in some of people named in other stories. Haven't read the other stories since I bought the book for the breed story. May read at some later date. The three indicates more than average since seldom give more than 4 stars.

I was not impressed... I'm glad it didn't cost me very much. Of the four stories I've read so far... I skipped one altogether because it was boring, the others jump around a lot, FINALLY getting to the Lora Leigh story and so far that is the only one worth reading as it is part of the "Breed" series.
Primal instincts fuel many of the love connections in this collection which pulls together four stories that vary greatly in sensuality, as well as showcasing a pretty diverse group of authors. Most of the stories are related to the authors' series - Rowen's and Gray's standalone pretty well - Leigh's requires at least some familiarity with her Breeds, and Strong is a new to me author, so I am not sure about whether or not it fits in with her other books.
Bleeding Heart by Michelle Rowen ~*~ A woman now carries a deadly drug in her blood. The drug turns vampires to ash with just a taste, but it is also slowly killing her, so she and her dhampyr ally are hoping to find a cure. ~*~ This first story is a short connected to Rowen's new Nightshade series - it was the mildest of the romances and an interesting tease to Rowen's new series - in which she has supposedly left her trademark humor behind - it does fall in time after the first book, so I suspect it may be mildly spoilerish if you plan on reading Nightshade.
Skin & Bone by Ava Gray ~*~ When an earthquake hits in Ecuador, a man with much to atone for saves a woman caught under the rubble and finally finds someone who doesn't fear him, a woman who sees him as a hero instead of the monster he considers himself to be. ~*~ Connected to Gray's 'Skin' series, this was my favorite of the stories, I really liked both of the leads the huge scary man who can be so gentle, and the free spirited woman who finally finds a connection she's willing to keep.
Angel Claimed by Jory Strong ~*~ An immortal seeks to reclaim the woman he lost centuries ago, despite his dreams of how their reunion will play out, he will not simply force her to submit to his claim but will first help her to keep a vow to the vampire family she is bound to. ~*~ I liked this one the least of the stories, the world building is interesting but confusing and I am not really into the dominance stuff (whipping, spanking, bondage). There are angels, djinn and vampires, this is my first story by this author so it may be connected to her other stories.
Primal Kiss by Lora Leigh ~*~ Breed enforcer Creed is undercover protecting the daughter of one of the Breed's enemies, she's a potential pawn just waiting to be used - by the Breeds or by their enemies - to force her father's cooperation. But Creed's priorities may well be tested if - as he has come to suspect - she is his mate. ~*~ My sense of this one is that if you follow the Breeds there is a revelation tied to the series arc that you will not want to miss. For me, I've read all of Leigh's stories in anthologies but only a few of her novels, so this didn't end up supplanting my favorite Breed short (I liked the one in Magical Christmas Cat the best), since - and I can't believe I am saying this - there was too much story and not enough of the romance even though there is still plenty of hot clenching, drenching, and throbbing for those who like Leigh's more explicit love scenes.
I bought this because I will buy anything Lora Leigh writes. Period. I got so much more (as always happens in anthologies)
Michelle Rowan wrote the first story, Bleeding Heart which is a filler between her last novel and her next one (oh I love when they do that!) Since I was not really familiar with her universe I was afraid I would not understand much about the characters, but I we wrong. She did take the time to flesh them out, even though most of her fans already knew them. It was a great tale and I will not give anything away, it's a great ending!
Skin and Bone, the offering from Ava Gray had me clamoring to read the rest of her books. This story is about a character she introduced in Skin Tight. You really feel for this guy from the very beginning. More than that, you really want this girl to like him, to love him because you really feel he deserves it. I'm already adding her books to my long list of things to read, however, they are cutting in line.
Jory Strong... There aren't enough superlatives to describe how well her writing has improved from her early days at Ellora's Cavern. This story is a continuation of a plotline she has going on in her post-apocalyptic, supernatural world. I have loved every single word of each book and think her character development is some of the best I've ever read. Angel-Claimed is fine as a stand-alone story within this series.
Primal Kiss is everything we have been led to expect from Lora Leigh. How this woman keeps improving upon erotic perfection astounds me and I stand in awe of her ability to keep me riveted to each Breed tale. I started out reading the Breeds in an anthology and within a week I had every book in the series on my . I read them non-stop then started throwing a toddler temper tantrum until the next one was published. This book is no different. The only thing that I see that is different as this series evolves is that it's not as lurid in the explanation of all the details and the mating heat as the earlier books in the series. The plot development is off the charts. As soon as I think I know what's coming I get blindsided by wonderful surprises that fit in perfectly but I didn't see coming. My only complaint? Let Ely be happy and find a man already!
Read this book and you will enjoy it every bit as much as you should. However, if you are not into erotica, it might be a shock to the system.
I generally like most paranormal stories. This novella had 2 interesting stories out of 4. Lora Legh usually delivers well on the Breed series. Primal Kiss was a good read. Bleeding Heart by Michelle Rowan was interesting , but then the story shifted and redirected with Nightshade, which came after the initial read.Ms Rowan explained this as Bleeding Heart taking place a few days after Nightshade. Why not have the story play out in order, changing venues is irritating with new story concepts. Ava Gray gave a good performance with Skin & Bone, but the ending was a bit trite. Finally Jory Strong's vampire story was very difficult to read. Very slow moving and switching from present day to a previous 1000 year old relationship between 2 species did not help the matter.
Not the best breed I've read but still quite good. Fills in some of people named in other stories. Haven't read the other stories since I bought the book for the breed story. May read at some later date. The three indicates more than average since seldom give more than 4 stars.
